TALKING THERAPIES

Talking therapies is any structured support which mainly consists of spoken words (or sign language for hearing impaired individuals).

Many people are reluctant to access talking therapies as they are unsure of what to expect when they attend therapy. How it is portrayed in the media very rarely shows what actually happens.

This is what a lot of people imagine and that looks and feels very alien

The reality is you are more likely to be sat on a chair facing the therapist

There are many different types of talking therapy and a specific may not be right therapy at the right time. My advice is speak to therapist and find out about the therapy and if you feel it will work for you give it a try. If it doesn't feel right or if you try it and feel that it is not working there are other therapist and therapies to try.

Therapy can be difficult, and hard but can help people deal with difficult, thoughts, feelings and actions.
